AES announces that the company has become a 100% landfill-free enterprise. Jeff Dietterich, President, states, “AES has always strived to lessen our environmental impact with aggressive recycling policies, and we are pleased to take this next step in becoming a greener company”. All residual and municipal waste from the company’s facility is reused, recycled or processed as renewable fuel at an energy-from-waste facility. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has stated that energy from waste plants is a “clean, reliable, renewable source of energy” that “produces electricity with less environmental impact than almost any other source of electricity”. “Our employees have really embraced the idea of being a landfill-free company”, Dietterich says. “Every new initiative raises our overall awareness of how we impact our environment, not just at work but in all aspects of our lives”. The company is a past recipient of the Excellence in Recycling Award for Franconia Township.
